Astana is not the only team that's shaking things up this year. The big team shakeup happens every year in the fall as everyone does a made synchronized dive from their current team to a new team. Okay, well, maybe not EVERY one. But, still, lots of girls are moving around.
I love the gossip that ensues as everyone from the big switcheroo, whether it's gossip about Jens Voigt's retirement all the way down to figuring out what team all your girlfriends are going to be racing on next season. And, how about all the midnight chats as you try to persuade your allies not to join your arch nemesis' team? Or, as you persuade them to join your new team's roster?
Well, all of that drama is over now, and the season has officially begun. Whatever decisions were made in the fall are here to stay for the remainder of the 2015 season. I am excited to announce my new membership with team Mike's Bikes Women's Team p/b Equator Coffees. When I get my kits later this week, I'll post some pics to prove it. I know you all are as excited as I am to break in those new chamois!

As for Astana, I think they should focus on their women's team with all these doping issues. In fact, Astana may lose their World Tour License if they don't shape up. Any more positive tests for doping could push them out of their World Tour License. However, I highly doubt that any of the racers female counterparts on Astana's Be Pink have been blood doping (probably in part because there's no way you could afford that on a professional female racer's salary.. but, I digress.) I think these top teams should get back to their clean image by highlighting the cleaner side of the sport -women's racing. The women are every bit as badass as the men, look just as good (or better?) in spandex, and deserve a chance to show what they've got. I really think that there is an untapped market here. I know tons of female riders who would love to see some pro women's races on TV and in media coverage. And, of course the men will tune in, because cycling is cycling. And, one doesn't need any extra excuse to see more racing on the boob tube. Not to mention, that big bike companies like Specialized would do well to host a women's race and get more women on race worthy bikes.
Until next time, my friends.
